Girls on the Run helps girls recognize their potential and rise above gender expectations that may limit their health, confidence, and joy. We respect and value the individuality and dignity of all people and we welcome children who identify as girls, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming to participate in all of our programs.

Registration Fees

Building confidence and setting young girls down the path of a healthy lifestyle is PRICELESS! However, there are real costs associated with operating a non-profit organization and delivering the Girls on the Run program to 1,000 girls across Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts each year. Registration is $190 per participant and includes:

  • 16 ninety-minute sessions conducted by certified GOTR volunteer coaches
  • Curriculum and lesson materials
  • Official GOTR T-shirt and water bottle
  • 5K Registration fee
  • 5K Medal
  • Post 5K celebration

Important notes:

  • Sibling Discount: When the “full” registration fee of $190 is paid for the first child, the second child will receive a 10% discount.
  • Coach Discount: Coaches will receive a discount when registering their child.

Cancellation/Withdrawal Policy: Withdrawing from the program before the start of the season will be refunded in full minus an administrative fee. Girls on the Run will issue a 50% refund if a participant withdraws before the fourth practice session. No refunds will be issued after this time.

Please note: Participants absent 4 or more times will automatically be removed from the team. Only caregivers may request refunds, not the coach,  by contacting Elizabeth McGann

Ma fille n’est pas une grande coureuse. Est-ce que ce programme lui conviendra? OU Ma fille est déjà une coureuse expérimentée. Est-ce que ce programme lui conviendra?

My child isn't a runner OR my child is already a skill runner. Is this program for her?

Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every participant can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our interactive and age-appropriate lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing, and processing in addition to running at each practice. And know that when we say run, we mean run, walk, skip, roll,  or push, just as long as you are moving foward!

Do you welcome trans girls? Gender expansive girls? What about nonbinary and gender fluid children? .

We welcome children who identify as girls, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming

What does the program fee include?

Although the actual cost per particpant is $408, we're able to offer the 8-week, 16-lesson program for $190 thanks to the support of generous donors and partners.  Your program registration fee includes all lesson materials, including GOTR curriculum, activity sheets, lap counters and more, a GOTR t-shirt, a bib entry into the season-ending 5K, a finisher's medal, and a GOTR water bottle.

We can't afford the program registration fee, but our child would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

We are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to all who want to participate! Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, program scholarships are available to any family in need, and we can also provide appropriate running shoes and attire if necessary. The online registration form will walk you through a few questions to find the fee that is right for your family based on a sliding scale.

When does the season begin?

The Fall season will start the week of September 14. More information will be shared by Girls on the Run staff and by your team's coaches once the season begins.

Do participants need to attend both days each week in order to register?

Yes! Teams spend the first few sessions bonding and each lesson builds on the previous one. Our team rosters fill up quickly and if your child is unable to attend all the sessions, please save room for a girl who can. We welcome you to join us in a future season when your schedule is better aligned.

How can I sponsor a participant for a season?

Yes! As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Girls on the Run RI relies on generous donors in order to provide more than $100,000 in program scholarships for families each year. Click here to sponsor a participant this season.
